Aluminum Foil Storage Conditions

Home » Industry Insights » Aluminum Foil Storage Conditions

Aluminum foil is a high-performance general packaging substrate, susceptible to temperature, humidity, corrosion and external force. Storage conditions directly affect its surface condition, physical properties and overall quality. To prevent oxidation, discoloration, moisture damage, deformation, wrinkling and performance deterioration, stabilize product performance and extend storage life, the following storage regulations must be strictly observed.

1. Warehouse Environmental Requirements

Store aluminum foil in a dry, ventilated, cool and clean warehouse. The ambient temperature shall be kept at 15°C to 25°C, and the relative humidity shall be controlled between 35% and 65%.

Excessive humidity causes moisture absorption, oxidation spots and surface adhesion, weakening tearing resistance and sealing performance. Too low humidity will dry out the material and reduce flexibility and plasticity. Abnormal temperature will damage the physical structure and processing applicability of aluminum foil.

Keep away from acids, alkalis, salts and other corrosive substances to prevent damage to the surface oxide film and corrosion.

Keep away from open flames, high heat sources and direct strong sunlight. Ultraviolet rays and high temperature will cause surface aging, luster loss and decreased oxidation resistance. Take shading measures for long-term storage.

2. Stacking Management

Stack aluminum foil neatly and flatly. Avoid heavy pressure, extrusion and folding. The stacking height shall not exceed 1.5 meters to prevent permanent deformation and wrinkling.

Aluminum foil in different specifications, grades and types shall be stored separately with clear labels to avoid mixing.

Place goods on moisture-proof pallets or shelves, and do not contact the ground directly to isolate ground moisture.

3. Protection and Sealing

For long-term storage, keep the original sealed packaging and cover with moisture-proof film or sealed bags to reduce contact with air and moisture and prevent oxidation and blackening.

Maintain a clean warehouse environment, reduce dust and contaminants, and ensure product cleanliness to meet industrial and food-grade hygiene requirements.

4. Daily Management & Handling

Conduct regular inspection during storage. Isolate and handle products timely if oxidation, damage or deformation is found.

Handle with care during transportation and handling. Avoid collision, friction and surface scratching to protect the complete appearance and performance of aluminum foil.
