Pharmaceutical foil is widely used in blister packaging and strip packaging for tablets, capsules, pills, powders, and other solid dosage forms, providing reliable sealing and protection. As an important material that comes into direct contact with medicines or forms an integral part of the pharmaceutical packaging system, pharmaceutical aluminum foil provides more than light, moisture, and oxygen protection. It serves as a critical barrier that helps maintain drug stability, safety, and shelf life.

Your Pharmaceutical Foil Material Partner

Yutwin New Materials specializes in pharmaceutical aluminum foil and laminated pharmaceutical foil, providing reliable aluminum foil substrates and laminated pharmaceutical foil for pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical packaging companies. Our products are designed to meet the requirements of high-speed automated blister packaging and various pharmaceutical packaging processes.

Reliable Materials for High-Performance Pharmaceutical Packaging

Our pharmaceutical aluminum foil rolls are suitable for high-speed automated production lines and can be supplied according to customers’ packaging equipment, pharmaceutical products, packaging structures, and processing requirements. During production, key parameters such as cleanliness, surface quality, thickness consistency, and pinhole control are carefully monitored. Appropriate manufacturing and quality-control procedures are implemented for pharmaceutical packaging applications to minimize the risk of contamination from microorganisms, dust particles, and other impurities.

Pharmaceutical Foil Types

Yutwin New Materials provides pharmaceutical aluminum foil materials for different pharmaceutical packaging systems, including:

  • Cold Forming Aluminum Foil

The foil is primarily used for cold-forming blister packaging. Its multilayer structure provides high barrier performance, offering enhanced protection for medicines that are sensitive to moisture, oxygen, and light. It generally provides excellent barrier properties and can be customized according to packaging equipment, forming depth, pharmaceutical characteristics, and specific packaging requirements.

  • Tropical Aluminum Foil

The foil is designed for pharmaceutical packaging applications in demanding environments with high temperature and humidity. Its high-barrier structure helps further reduce the impact of moisture and oxygen on medicines, making it particularly suitable for pharmaceutical storage and transportation in tropical and high-humidity regions.

Pharmaceutical Foil Construction

Laminated Pharmaceutical Foil is not a single material. Instead, it consists of multiple functional layers designed to provide mechanical protection, barrier properties, and heat-sealing performance. Through the appropriate combination of multiple functional layers, Laminated Pharmaceutical Foil can meet the comprehensive requirements of pharmaceutical packaging for Barrier Performance, Mechanical Strength, Heat Sealing, and Processing Performance.

A typical PTP Foil structure includes:

  • Protective Layer – OP

The outer layer is typically made from a polymer film such as polyester film. It provides additional mechanical strength, abrasion resistance, and printability while protecting the aluminum foil surface.

  • Aluminum Foil Layer – AL

The aluminum foil layer is the core barrier layer of the laminate. Even at a thickness of approximately 6–9 μm, aluminum foil provides excellent protection against moisture, oxygen, and light, making it the key barrier for maintaining pharmaceutical stability.

  • Heat-Sealing Layer – VC

The inner layer is designed to bond with the pharmaceutical container or blister substrate. Depending on the packaging structure, PVC, PVDC, or other suitable heat-sealing coatings/materials may be used to provide reliable heat sealing and package integrity.
